Re: Alcor, California, and the right to die
I was actually interested to know if Alcor has/would/could attend an "assisted suicide" in a state or country where it's legal. I always thought to myself, that if I was in that kind of situation, with a terminal illness, it might be possible to self-administer the anti-coagulant drugs, hop in an ic...

Re: Neural archaelogy
It seems like a legitimate piece of data/research to pursue. I think the issue is probably that Alcor only wants to spend time and money researching things that can be immediately implemented, to improve cryopreservations. I don't think they are as interested (at this time) in the research pertainin...

Re: Cryopreservation and communicable diseases
Also, with compounding interest, the longer the organization is around, the more money it should have available for staff, research, additional facilities, etc. Even if growth is slow, the funds they have invested should keep growing over time. As long as we can avoid any more embezzlement scandals...

Re: 1000 year bluray
It looks like it's more of just a material, that can be etched using a regular burner. Might work to burn one of those DVDs, and include it in your Alcor box for storage. I always thought having a video interview with yourself might be helpful. Allow future scientists to evaluate your appearance, yo...

I really hope Alcor can pursue some experiments in using this technology.

Re: Cryopreservation and communicable diseases
Which does make me think, what mechanisms are there if by some freak accident all board members and staff were wiped out? I have asked similar questions before, mainly regarding things like power outages, or things like natural disasters, or widespread social unrest. The general answer I have gotte...

Re: Tell me if i'm getting this right
Yeah, that's a very interesting concept. If it creates a perfect "freeze", with no cell fracturing, ice crystals, etc, the next question is if it maintains that structure, once the EM field is turned off. If so, it would be awesome for Alcor to use this during the cooldown process, and once the poin...

Re: Cryopreservation and communicable diseases
Yeah, I am pretty sure if someone dies of Ebola, mandatory cremation would be the policy. Although that might be more because most funeral homes would probably not accept an Ebola victim for normal burial procedures. But would Alcor? Hard to say. I am sure they would want to do the cryopreservation,...

Re: End Death Convention November 2014
Way too busy with work to attend stuff like this.
If I am lucky, I might make it to a local LA or OC get-together, but I am typically too busy for out of town conventions and conferences.

Re: Finally signing up
Yeah, welcome aboard...
It always takes a bit of effort to get all the paperwork set up, but once you get over the sign-up hurdle, it's pretty much finished after that. You just feel much better, knowing the Alcor stuff is in place.
