Re: When will we revive the first cryopreserved patient?
Ken Hayworth has indicated in private correspondence that he was badly misquoted . He actually said something like: Many people today assume that the chances of cryonics working is really low like .001 percent. We need to get more research into cryonics and other preservation methods so that we can ...

Re: Why I'm quitting Alcor -- they now have the math all wro
To my own chagrin, I must admit that the argument that a person who prefers Alcor could be better off by making arrangements with another organization and switching to Alcor at old age seems financially sound. It's a tragedy of the commons. If everybody did it, storage would go on, but the cryopres...

Re: Why I'm quitting Alcor -- they now have the math all wro
CMS fees are now a substantial part of the annual fee burden of Alcor members. http://www.alcor.org/BecomeMember/standby.html CMS fees go into a dedicated CMS Fund from which Alcor pays for standby/stabilization/transport costs and bills certain ongoing readiness expenses. I personally believe that ...

Re: Wearable devices
I think the chances of a cardiac arrest alarm (as distinct from a distress alarm) saving a cryonicist's life are low. The reason is that outside of a hospital, EMS response to a cardiac arrest is not going to be fast enough to resuscitate anyone. This means that a cardiac arrest alarm is effectively...

Re: Alcor Co-Founder Fred Chamberlain is Cryopreserved
Believe me, there is a big difference between someone believing you are wrong about whether a person is dead vs. believing your intention is resurrection. The former is being wrong, the latter is taboo. Put another way, the difference may not be in the perceived creepiness of the "dead" cryonicists....

Re: Web site
Thanks, and thanks for noticing the spurious "forum" directory. It was an artifact of some troubleshooting in the initial hours after the site design switch, and has since been deleted. Also, anyone who mistypes "forum" will now be redirected to the correct "forums". For anyone visiting the main web...

Re: Grandfathered Underfunding Solution Thread
Thanks, Max, for your long and thoughtful post. Your post did come to the board's attention. Without stipulating to any inadequacy of the Cryopreservation Agreement wording in the strictly legal sense, it is agreed that the wording could be made clearer. Pursuant to the comments here, I believe it w...

Only do it if you've saved up enough money to have the tattoo removed and redone when the phone number changes. I'm not being entirely facetious.

Re: A Critical Look at Comprehensive Member Standby (CMS)
I just don't like extra fees. I don't like extra fees for CMS, I don't like Alcor dues. I prefer that all of these "services" be paid for by the cost of the cryopreservation. So that whatever Alcor needs to do, is done properly, and cost-efficiently. If that means I have to pay $150k, or $200k for ...
